M'Cheyne's Bible Reading Plan

It is my belief that believers who neglect God’s Word put themselves at a serious disadvantage, especially in today’s antagonistic culture.  It’s imperative that we take initiative ourselves and not content ourselves with a spoon feeding of God’s truth.  Many years ago my son started me on the M’Cheyne plan.  I highly recommend it to all.  More than a “Through-the-Bible-in-a-Year” program, it takes you through the Bible once but takes you through the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs twice – and with just a bit more effort! 

The tables have two separate columns; one for family readings and one for private [in secret] readings. M'Cheyne's Calendar was highly recommended by famous preachers such as Charles Haddon Spurgeon.  In John Stott's "Between Two Worlds" he expresses his gratitude for having been given M'Cheyne's 'bible reading calendar' (p183).

Robert Murray M'Cheyne (1813 - 1843) was the minister of St Peter's Church Dundee (1836 - 1843).  He was a godly evangelical pastor and evangelist with a great love for souls.
